David Allred Sculpture - David is an artist, sculptor, teacher, sportsman and wildlife enthusiast.
Using a variety of metals and woods, Allred celebrates nature. Birds, fish, animals, and sportsmen are major subjects, treated with reverence and attention to detail. Insects and fishing flies become shining works of art under his torch.  Each piece is unique, individually conceived and executed. David’s images from nature—painstakingly produced in brass, copper, steel and wood speak to all of us as he uses his torch and metals to capture the essence of wildlife and the human outdoor experience.

Hank George Sculpture
Hank George has 2 works in progress that will be featured at our event, a life-size Steelhead sculpture, and a framed pair of Upper Sacramento Rainbows.  This photo is representative of Hank’s work.  Hank was born in Alturas, California and now lives in Redding, California with his wife Candis and daughter Ashley.  Now a recognized wildlife artist, Hank’s unique and beautifully wrought pieces are carved from kiln-dried western sugar pine, then are sealed with acrylic undercoats, followed by various paints applied by a combination of hand painting and airbrush. In nature the variables of light, distance and movement (or lack of) along with natural iridescence gives birds and fish the ability to go from completely camouflaged to a stunning array of color-on-the-move. His sculptures represent these qualities and his knowledge of the subjects.

STREET SCENE QUILT
The Street Scene quilt was designed by Lynette Jensen for RJR Fabrics.  These Thimbleberries fabrics were obtained from quilt shops in Missouri, Ohio, and New Hampshire via the Internet.  The pattern, backing and binding were assembled by Pat Flieschman of The Sewing Room located at her residence in Stockton.  The Belmont Family of Valley Springs did the actual quilting.  The flannel on the top and back are 100% cotton.  The batting is 100% wool.  It is completely washable.
The quilt is valued at $1400.

The Fly Shop donated 2 days for 2 at Antelope Creek Lodge.
When The Fly Shop owners, Mike and Bertha Michalak, first saw this special property they fell in love with it. We think those of you reserving time here this season will understand their excitement and really enjoy this wonderful ranch. Antelope Creek Lodge is located on the Northeast side of majestic Mt. Shasta. Traveling North on I-5 and then East on Hwy 97 out of Weed, it is approximately an hour and forty minutes from Redding, the home of The Fly Shop. The property is comprised of 328 acres of meadows, pines, aspen, cottonwoods, one and a half miles of meadow stream, two lakes and a knockout lodge. The elevation is 5000 feet, which accounts for the presence of aspens and dictates a shorter season than we enjoy on many of our properties. It also means that summertime temperatures are quite pleasant and you can expect wonderful fishing all season long.

CENTRAL VALLEY SHAD
“One Day Guided Trip”
Hard grab, screaming reel and sore arms that is what shad fishing is all about.  There is no better way to catch this migratory specie than on a fly rod.  Each spring American Shad migrated into our valley rivers (American, Yuba and Feather) to spawn.  By late May and continuing to the end of June, shad are available in the upper sections of these rivers.  A typical day is to float 4 to 6 miles of river, stopping along the way and fishing from the drift boat or wading some of the better runs that consistently hold good concentration of shad.
